Artist Statement
In “Resilient Echoes: War Left Behind,” I present an installation that showcases the lasting effects of the 1979-1981 war in Khoramshahr, Iran. The installation consists of preserved items from the war, highlighting the defense and liberation of Khoramshahr. Through these remnants, I aim to depict the Iranian people’s experiences during this period and emphasize the ongoing impact of war on their lives today.
The installations provide a meaningful journey through time, displaying the remaining items from the war as artifacts that symbolize the struggles and resilience of the people of Khoramshahr. The use of narrative 3D decoupage enables a multi-dimensional storytelling experience, with each layer revealing a piece of the larger narrative.
The contemporary vision in “Resilient Echoes” acts as a bridge between the past and the present, highlighting the enduring spirit of the Iranian people and inviting viewers to recognize the intricate relationship between history and the lasting impact of war. This modern perspective makes the historical narrative more relatable, bringing the past to life in the present.
Through “Resilient Echoes,” I encourage audiences to acknowledge the realities of war, engage with the historical artifacts, and contemplate the profound and lasting impact on the lives of the Iranian people. This immersive journey serves as a tribute to resilience, an exploration of the enduring impact, and a call for remembrance in light of shared history.
