Artist Statement
In “War Chronicles: A Witness’s Testimony,” I present a series depicting the Iran-Iraq war’s impact on the people of Iran, specifically the defence and liberation of Khoramshahr from 1979 to 1981. As a journalist and artist, I captured the raw reality of the war through drawings and photography, creating a living record of the Iranian people’s experiences.
This visual documentation, using narrative 3D decoupage techniques, immerses viewers in the untold stories of resilience and survival. “War Chronicles” bridges the past and present, inviting engagement with the enduring spirit of the Iranian people during this challenging period. Through my drawings, I aim to showcase the remarkable resilience of a community and the enduring power of art to connect us with the human experience.
