Artist Statement
In my collection “Long Shadow of War”, I draw upon my experiences during the Iran-Iraq War in Khorramshahr from 1980 to 1982. Using Persian miniatures and digital decoupage, I depict the impact of war on Iranian culture. The series captures the duality of destruction and resilience within Persian heritage, aiming to inspire admiration in viewers.
Through contemporary symbolism, I create a visual dialogue that transcends time, inviting viewers to reflect on the intersection of art, history, and the human experience. “Long Shadow of War” reflects on a specific historical period and aims to evoke empathy and understanding while honoring the enduring spirit of the Iranian people amidst the chaos of war.
This series serves as a testament to the enduring power of art to convey the complex tapestry of emotions and experiences that define the legacy of war. “Echoes of Khorramshahr” is a visual memoir and a tribute to the resilience of Persian heritage in the face of war, fostering contemplation on the lasting impact of conflict.
