Artist Statement
In “Nomadic Narratives,” I draw inspiration from the Emirati desert and its baddie and Nomadic communities. I create art using used metal pots as unconventional canvases, aiming to bring their stories to light.
I see the worn metal pots not just as vessels, but as artifacts carrying the histories of the nomadic people. Through my artwork, I aim to capture the essence of these individuals by combining traditional painting techniques with contemporary photo-collage methods. This fusion brings the portraits to life, inviting viewers to engage with the stories etched into the faces.
The choice of materials and techniques reflects the textures of desert life, as the metal pots are transformed into artistic canvases. The integration of photo-collage elements serves to bridge the gap between the tangible reality of the Nomads and the abstract, creating a visual narrative with universal appeal.
“Nomadic Narratives” is my invitation to explore the rich tapestry of the Emirati desert and its inhabitants. Through portraiture, repurposed pots, painting, and photo-collage, I seek to celebrate the resilience and traditions of the baddie and Nomadic communities, showcasing their enduring spirit in both ancient and contemporary contexts.
