Artist Statement
In “Lost Echoes: Militarism’s Impact on Persian Heritage”, I use a distinctive visual approach to highlight the contrast between military presence and cultural heritage in Iran. I employ digital decoupage to layer elements and create a visual narrative that reflects the overshadowing of tradition by militarism. The foreground of my compositions features military items, representing the dominance of militaristic ideologies, while the background depicts forgotten heritage spaces, symbolizing the erosion of Persian cultural essence. This stark contrast underscores the profound loss and cultural erosion caused by militarism.
My work aims to prompt awareness and discussions about the impact of militarism on Persian heritage. It emphasizes the need to recognize the consequences of military dominance and advocates for the preservation of cultural identity. Through “Lost Echoes,” I seek a reconnection with the cultural roots that have been obscured by militaristic ideologies, evoking a sense of longing for the lost heritage. This series serves as a call for reflection on the urgency to safeguard and preserve the cultural treasures that define Iran’s essence.
