Artist Statement
In my art project, “Echoes of Change: Capturing the Age of Transformation,” I explore the life, history, and culture of the Emirates before the discovery of oil in the 1960s, known as the Age of Transformation.
This collection pays tribute to the spirit of the Emirati people as they experienced significant change. I use historical photographs as inspiration, transferring them onto oil containers to symbolize the impact of oil on the region’s history. Through careful painting and photo-collage techniques, I blend the past with the present, aiming to connect with modern audiences.
The diverse oil containers I use represent the varied experiences of the Emirati people during the Age of Transformation, serving as a metaphor for their lives. By presenting historical images on these unique canvases, I invite viewers to consider the interplay between tradition and progress and reflect on the resilience of the Emirati community.
“Echoes of Change” encourages a deeper appreciation for Emirati culture and the transformations it has undergone. Through my artwork, I celebrate the strength of the Emirati people during this pivotal time in their history.
